Scope of Geotechnical Engineering: A program that prepares individuals to apply mathematical and scientific principles to the design, development and operational evaluation of systems for manipulating and controlling surface and subsurface features at or incorporated into structural sites, including earth and rock moving and stabilization, land fills, structural use and environmental stabilization of wastes and by-products, underground construction, and groundwater and hazardous material containment.
